Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The name of the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, surfaced online after he deployed troops to Ukraine to help Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Chechen troops under Kadyrov often ‘accompany’ Putin in carrying out military operations in several countries, such as Georgia and Syria.
Kadyrov is actually a former rebel and Chechen boxer. He was born in October 1976 and has served as the President of Chechnya since April 2007, quoted from Reuters.

Kadyrov previously served as head of security for his father, Akhmad Kadyrov, a pro-Russian president who was elected in 2003. However, Akhmad was later killed in a bomb attack in 2004. Kadyrov was appointed ruler.
Kadyrov is known to have a unique lifestyle. He keeps a cat in a private zoo which is next to his house. He has a gold-plated gun and often performs traditional Chechen dances to the general public.
This Chechen leader had a large-scale private army whose members were said to be in the thousands. This troop was known as the “Kadyrovtsy.”
Human rights groups and local residents say these troops are accustomed to using force to carry out Kadyrov’s wishes, scaring the public.
