JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Fientje Maritje Suebu was officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia (LBBP RI) to New Zealand and also Samoa, Kingdom of Tonga, Cook Islands and Niue.

He was inaugurated along with two other ambassadors at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/1/2022).

This inauguration is certainly a matter of pride for the people of Papua. Because Fientje became the first Papuan woman to become an Indonesian ambassador.

For information, Fientje Suebu is the only daughter among the five sons of a tribal chief in Papua.

The inauguration of Fientje as Ambassador of New Zealand is certainly inseparable from his career.

It is known, the woman born in Sentani has been active in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) for 31 years.

Fientje studied at the Foreign Service School. After graduating, he was recruited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and moved to Jakarta.

Prior to being appointed as the New Zealand Embassy, ​​Fientje served as Deputy Head of Representative at the Indonesian Embassy to India. He has held the position since February 2018.
