The fight with demons will be shown by TV Hunter – Novinky

Hunter is the thematic follow-up to Strach’s popular hit miniseries The Devil’s Trick (2009), The Lost Gate (2012) and the Labyrinth series (2015, 2017, 2018), which are being rerun by television public. As they are, the new series also shows that finding and catching the person who committed the crime is beyond the capabilities of standard police investigative procedures.

So the cases are solved by a hunter played by Pavel Kříž, who works for a secret order and maintains the balance between good and evil. Together with the main female character, Jana Kolesárová, they are brought together by chance, which turns out to be no accident at all.

“It’s not a typical crime story, it’s a real fairy tale, a little bit of horror, a little bit of mystery, and it offers a place for fantasy, which is really a temptation for actors. Each episode has a different environment, a different plot,” Jana Kolesárová said about the series.

Pavel Kříž was interested in the script. “There are a lot of crime films these days, so for a new one to be interesting to the audience, it should have another side. The hunter’s superstructure is precisely a mystery. We are investigating a murder committed by someone possessed by a demon. My interpretation is that whether one believes in demons or not, there is evil in some people. Someone must have some evil to kill him. And in The Hunter, this evil is represented by a demon,” said Kříž.

This year is the TV year for director Strach. In May, Jiřina Bohdalová excelled in his film Svatá on Czech television, in September the second series of the miniseries Docent will premiere, followed by Hunter.

Strach says he likes to jump between genres. “One day I will film a fairy tale, then a detective story, a mystery, then another from life. I don’t like standing in one body of water for too long. But I have to admit it’s nice to return to the mystery genre. It is a fairy tale for adults for the inexplicable. I like it when the viewer, after watching Labyrinths and Hunters, has to leave the light on in the kitchen so it doesn’t scare him,” he said. According to him, the hunter is the one who knows how to identify, hunt and remove evil from this world.

According to Strach, the Hunter series will offer a “horror story” a little different than what we know from his previous works. “It will be a little more demonic, maybe. We are working with dark devilish forces that need to capture good and remove it from this world,” said Jiří Strach.

The script for the series was written by Tomáš Koňařík and Adam Doležal. It also stars Ivo Gogal, Martin Stránský, Jiří Štěpnička and others.
