The Czechs did not play at the last World Cup the year before last after a close defeat in the playoffs with Montenegro. At the championship in 2017, the national team surprisingly reached the quarterfinals and with the final eighth place determined the best result in independent history. Under Bašný’s work, the representatives advanced to the World Championships in 2013, when they took 15th place.
“We are at half-time. We have big reserves, we know about them. We will have two days to work on it in some way and get to the championship. The Swiss have proved that we can play with us, that we can cross over us. We will have to improve our game a lot in retaliation, especially it will be necessary to enter the match better, “said Bašný.
The Swiss have never started a big event and have not won over the Czech team in the previous six matches, but unexpectedly kept pace in Zubří. From the position of a clear outsider, they could play without hindrance and surprisingly led the entire first half.

The home team couldn’t get through on the pitch, waving 12 minutes into the game. The Czechs did not manage to compare even in the rest of the opening act and after the break they lost by two goals 12:14. Kudláčková’s goalkeeper and substitute Mučková did not manage between the poles, both of them scored only three interventions.
“As we announced before the match, we came across an opponent who has improved a lot and has a very good offensive game. Unfortunately, we did not manage to enter the match well,” said Bašný. “We were two or three goals behind and then we tried to get back to the match unnecessarily. Then it dragged on with us until the end. The Swiss started to believe, they were fine at the game. We didn’t quite manage what we had prepared.” added Bašný.
The home favorites entered the second half better and in the 40th minute Malá from the blockbuster equalized for the first time since the beginning of the match. However, the Swiss then again got into a two-goal lead, which twice succeeded Bašný’s trustee thanks to several interventions.
Then, 11 seconds before the end, Kordovská sent the Czech team to the lead for the first time in the match, it seemed that the favorite would still win. In the final second, however, Hodelová equalized. “It may be sorry, but in three days it is played again in 60 minutes. If it is a draw or one goal, it is not so important,” remarked Bašný.
The World Cup will be hosted by Spain in December.
