The Premier League wants to improve the VAR for next season. The numerous complaints from the clubs about the numerous inconsistencies in the arbitration decision-making have focused the debate throughout the course. In this Thursday’s meeting of the clubs in the competition, one of the hottest points of the day will be the improvement of the VAR.
One of the most controversial plays of the course, and one of those received by all Premier League clubs, took place in October in a match between Manchester United and Chelsea, when Maguire grabbed both arms by the neck of Azpilicueta inside the area but neither referee Atkinson whistled a penalty nor the VAR considered it appropriate to act.
Over the last few weeks, the clubs have received videos from the Premier League with controversial plays in which the VAR has intervened and had to respond with the reactions of the coaches, managers and captains on what changes could be implemented to the next season. What’s more, each clip had a Yes / No to comment if the play in question had to have been reviewed by the VAR. At the end of the questionnaire, they had the opportunity to explain how they believed the decision-making system could improve.
