The fifth installment of “Karma Latvians”: How easy is it for the media to sell an interview to a non-existent healer?

“In this series, we have studied the work of our colleagues. It is clear that the media has a great influence on society, but with influence comes accountability. Trying to sell an interview with a non-existent healer for publication, we have tried to understand if and how much the media control what they print,” says investigative journalist Inese Liepiņa, one of the authors of the documentary series.

During the research, together with industry professionals, the authors of the series concluded that the rise of esotericism in Latvian society had a very large impact directly on the media. And the former editor of a major publication, looking back on her work, says today that she would act differently now, because she sees what such content does to society.

“From the kitchen” I can reveal that I was skeptical in planning the episode and immediately pointed out that everyone would recognize Inga Spriņgi, disguised as a healer. But we will have to see for ourselves how she turned out,” Inese said.

Watch the documentary-research series “Karma Latvians” on Sundays at 18.50 on the TV3 channel, on the “tv3.lv” portal and “Game TV3”. Furthermore, all series are already available on the new generation TV “Go3”.
