The reserve hospital in Letňany, Prague, for the operation of which is Na Bulovce Hospital, was built by the army at the end of October. In the meantime, however, the increase in the number of infected people has slowed down and so far no patient has had to be transferred to the backup hospital. So far, the state has paid 26 million crowns for the lease, and last week the Ministry of Health decided to extend the contract until February 28. Currently, the premises serve as a training center for the Red Cross.

Despite the declining number of hospitalized, the discussion on whether the ministry will terminate the contract sooner should take place in the second half of January at the earliest, according to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES). However, the notice period is 21 days, so the lease could be shortened by a maximum of a few days.

However, Černý also avoided answering the question of whether it would make sense to transport patients to a facility that will have to start clearing soon. “It can be stated that the hospital is not necessary in terms of capacity at the moment.
