The fictional reality of the president – View Info – 2024-10-03 11:30:32

/ world today news/ I read about Plevneliev’s speech before the European Parliament earlier today and once again felt uncomfortable that this man represents and personifies Bulgaria to the outside world.

The speech was delivered, and probably pre-written by someone in English, but that’s another topic. More importantly, at least a few of this guy’s theses deserve a strong backlash.

It is high time for Plevneliev to stop looking for a way to exacerbate relations between Bulgaria and Russia. Neither the Bulgarians want this, nor does it lead to any benefits for our country or give it any meaningful perspective in the future. This is short-sighted and shameful servitude to foreign interests, which has nothing to do with the interests of Bulgaria and the Bulgarians.

It is high time for Plevneliev to realize that the world is no longer unipolar. He may feel sorry for the unipolar world, the consequences of which we have yet to grapple with. But, it seems to me, no matter how much we run into the fictional reality of the president, we cannot help but be aware of what is happening in the world and in Europe today. We have not gone from any cold war to any cold peace. It’s just that one pole feels clearly uncomfortable with the presence of other poles.

“If you don’t have a cause, you’re looking for a convenient enemy”, said Plevneliev… And this is probably the only true thing. But let the president look for enemies without harming Bulgaria and without flapping his wings against the interest of his people.
And regarding the question raised by Plevneliev whose Crimea is, I would advise him to read the nice monograph of the late Prof. Zhivko Stalev “The Normative Power of the Factual”. And, if he wishes, he can translate it into English and give it to Mr. Martin Schultz.

I believe that on this important issue there will be a reaction from our party and the Bulgarian politicians, as well as those in the European Parliament.
