It was probably grease in an extractor over the grill – and poor maintenance – which led to the Festningen Restaurant in Oslo being totally damaged in a fire this winter.
Oslo newspaper writes that the restaurant and the company that built and serviced the ventilation system have status as suspects in the police investigation into the fire. The restaurant burned down on February 4 this year.
– There are several indications that the cause of the fire is due to the ignition of grease in the extractor above the grill, and that this has spread as a result of inadequate maintenance and incorrect construction of the extractor, says police attorney Eric Lindset to AO.
Avisa Oslo has not received a comment from Fursetgruppen, which is behind the restaurant.
