The Runas contest for the promotion of new folk values, which yesterday opened the curtain with the performances of the three finalists of the 2022 edition – Folk on Crest, Bate and JDC – continues today and tomorrow on the main stage of Estrella Galicia del International Festival of the Celtic World of Ortigueira.
Tonight it will be the turn of the three formations chosen by the jury of the 2021 edition. At 9:00 p.m. Germán Ruiz will perform, formed by some of the best bagpipers in Galicia and creator in 2020 of the International Bagpipe School. Last year he published his first solo album called “Presente”.
He will be followed on stage, starting at 10 pm, by the Trikitrí group, created by four musicians from Fene with a long background in traditional, folk and other music groups in the Ferrolterra region. Óscar Alfonso, Alberto Maceiras, Óscar Painceiras and Alberto Romero are its members. His style and repertoire is influenced by the sound of the trikitixa (the Basque diatonic accordion) to which is added a curious mix of instruments such as the electronic bagpipe, the cajon and the acoustic guitar.
The night of concerts will be completed by the Groovy Celtic Band, six experienced musicians from Extremadura who share their passion for Irish music and the traditional music of the Atlantic arc. They will perform at 11:00 p.m. Before, from six in the afternoon, there will be new parades with the participation of the Padroado da Cultura de Narón Bagpipe Band, and the Troula do Ortegal Cultural Association.
