From the Federation of Carthaginian and Roman troops they ask all the festeros that this year DO NOT dress in your festive costumes nor do concentrations with festive identification shirts. “This year DOES NOT play. We will come back stronger.”
The Federation affirms that “as unfortunately we are verifying, the risk of contagion by Covid-19 is high, real and dangerous, the disease progresses to worse; but what would really be dangerous and even fatal both for our festive image, and for the city of Cartagena itself, is that a focus of massive contagion arose with people dressed as festeros and festeras, and that our costumes would occupy the center of the photo of that contagion. We can’t afford it. “
“In meetings held both by videoconference while the confinement lasted and those that, respecting the established norms as much as possible, were held in person by the Federation Executive and directive, it was unanimously agreed ‘RECOMMEND‘(for not using the word Prohibit) to all festeros and festeras refrain from dressing in period costumes and not do meetings nor coexistence with them on.
The Federation points out that “as we can all imagine, it is not a capricious request. We are all left with great desire to put on the costumes that identify us the most, with which we most enjoy our festivities, but this year it will not be possible” .
Let’s remember the festivities were going to be held from this Friday, September 18 to 27.
