One of the most important pension measures from the federal government’s pension agreement concerns the capping of the equalization. This is the mechanism whereby civil servants’ pensions, on top of the index, rise along with the salaries of civil servants.
Ilse Heylen, chairman of ACV Public Services, is not pleased with this measure. “The system of perequation is a good system that ensures prosperity stability for civil servants and it is a pity that people are touching it now,” she says in “De Ochtend” on Radio 1. The union will deliberate internally about further substantive response to the other measures.
