The federal government has supplied 468,708 Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19 until this Sunday, mainly to doctors, nurses and hospital personnel who care for patients with the new coronavirus, as well as to the so-called “servers of the nation.” This represents an advance of 0.7% of the total population.
This Sunday 5,378 vaccines were applied in the expansive phase within the country’s public hospitals.
At a press conference at the National Palace, Ricardo Cortés Alcalá, general director of Health Promotion, presented the progress report of the national Covid vaccination program, in which it is recorded that 464,224 people have received the one-dose schedule of the vaccine and 3,484 the full two-dose schedule of the Pfizer drug.

So far, the country has received 545,975 doses of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNtech.
Ricardo Cortés said that a new shipment of more than 400,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive next Tuesday, January 19.
He said that at the moment there have been 1,252 cases of medical personnel who had a reaction (fever, redness, dizziness, nausea) to the Pfizer vaccine, and of which 25 have been serious cases who were hospitalized for a few hours or days. Of them, only four remain in hospital.
They analyze changes to the vaccination schedule against Covid-19
Cortés Alcal announced that the Covid-19 Vaccination Technical Advisory Group is analyzing the possibility of making changes to the population’s immunization schedule.
After being questioned about whether other sectors other than medical personnel could be vaccinated at this time, the specialist replied that the Technical Advisory Group analyzes whether it is necessary to include other sectors, but clarified that it would be after the vaccination of older adults.
“At the moment it is by age. If there is a better evaluation, or there is better scientific evidence to make other decisions and prioritize by occupation, for example, the public security forces, which are very important throughout our country and throughout the world, it would have to be prioritized as well.
“The Technical Advisory Group is doing another analysis to see if there is any other way to decrease, once we are done with the elderly, if there is any other strategy to more quickly mitigate the burden of the disease. Once we vaccinate the elderly, what we mitigate is mortality; basically 80% of the deaths in this country due to the SarsCov-2 virus are occurring in this age group, more than elderly people and with that it will decrease. Once this age group has concluded, there could be another strategy to reduce the burden of the disease ”, he highlighted.
