On Monday, Chancellor Angela Merkel will speak to the Prime Minister about the current Corona situation and possible further measures. The federal government will apparently force a further tightening of the measures – in particular stricter contact and quarantine restrictions, with the help of which the pandemic in Germany is to be pushed back. This emerges from a draft resolution on which various media report unanimously. Since this is a template, changes are still possible.
The stricter restrictions therefore provide that private get-togethers with friends or acquaintances are massively restricted and are only limited to members of another, permanent household. Private celebrations should generally be canceled until Christmas. In addition, people with cold symptoms, such as a runny nose or cough, should immediately go to home quarantine, writes Spiegel Online.
The envisaged measures are also aimed at the school sector: the aim is for both teachers and students of all ages to wear mouth and nose protection – not only on the school premises, but also during lessons. In addition, there should be fixed student groups and the group sizes should only be half as large in view of normal operations. For people who are particularly at risk, there is also the prospect of relief: they should receive discounted FFP2 masks in order to be able to better protect themselves against infection.
According to media reports, no new contact and quarantine restrictions should be decided at the meeting on Monday. Only in the coming week, more precisely on November 23, will the federal and state governments advise and decide on new measures, tightening or easing.
