The machines are already there, and production has been running at full speed since June: the Flawa company in Eastern Switzerland makes up to 85,000 masks every day. They are certified by TÜV, comply with protection class FFP2 and are specially designed for supplying Switzerland.
–
The machines are paid for by the public purse. The federal government and the canton of Zurich made the money available for the procurement. So far, at least. Because Flawa announces today that the company has signed a contract with the federal government and the canton of Zurich.
–
“With the takeover of the two machines, we will build a third strategic pillar in the production of respiratory masks in addition to our previous core competencies – cotton products and fresh soles”, said the Flawa boss in the communiqué on Friday.
–
The machine costs 800,000 francs each. Part of the agreement is for the federal government and the canton of Zurich to purchase a total of 5 million masks from the manufacturer. 3.5 million are intended for the federal government. 1.5 for Zurich. “To be able to guarantee the supply in the event of a bottleneck.” (ise)
