OneXGPU 2 external graphics card specifications and performance were detailed by OneXPlayer, revealing the capabilities of AMD’s Radeon RX 7800M.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800M GPU was recently featured in a video by ONEXPlayer, a manufacturer of various gaming consoles and small PCs. The EGPU is designed for USB4 and OCULINK devices like the X1-Mini from the same manufacturer, and it now gives the first glimpse of its gaming performance in a new video. The X1-Mini console has been paired with the all-new ONEXGPU 2 external GPU, which is powered by a Radeon RX 7800M GPU based on the Navi 32 die.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800M GPU was seen for the first time, even before AMD made an official announcement regarding the GPU. ONEXGPU calls it “The World’s First Graphics Card Dock powered by AMD Radeon RX 7800M. ” The ONEXGPU 2 eGPU Dock has a lot of connection ports, including USB 4.0, Oculink, 2x DP, 1x HDMI, 2x USB, TF card, LAN, and M.2 bay for 2280 SSD.
In terms of specifications, the AMD RX 7800M features 60 RDNA 3 computing units or a total of 3,840 stream processors in the Navi 32 XT GPU, making it the same as the desktop version of the RX 7800 XT. However, the memory configuration is cut down to 12GB GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus instead of 16GB GDDR6 VRAM on a 256-bit bus on the RX 7800 XT. The mobile version can support up to three displays and has a maximum TDP of up to 180W. We can expect the mobile version to have lower clock speeds and around 10% lower performance compared to the desktop chip.
ONEXPlayer also tested ONEXGPU 2 in two different games: GoDof War (2018) and Red Dead Redemption 2. As you can see in the video, the external GPU can play GOW on Ultra settings at 2560×1600p resolution at 60+ frames per second. . RDR 2 also plays at 60fps, but at 1920x1200p resolution. The AMD RX 7800M “RDNA 3” GPU seems to be a powerful solution for gamers, but its availability for gaming laptops remains to be confirmed.
The ONEXGPU 2 external GPU has not yet been officially released for purchase, and the company has not yet spoken about its prices.
