Now the FDP is presenting a new refugee plan!
The goal: “Combat irregular migration consistently and effectively,” as stated in a resolution by the party leadership on Monday. The party of traffic light finance minister Christian Lindner (44) is planning, among other things, to cut off money for asylum seekers!
► Instead, there should be benefits in kind for “asylum seekers with little prospect of staying.” The Liberals explain: “Instead of directly transferring money for bus and train tickets or cell phone prepaid cards, for example, we should start making the goods physically available to asylum seekers.”
This is intended to weaken a “crucial pull factor for illegal migration to Germany,” as the FDP writes.
In plain language: The FDP plan is intended to make Germany less attractive for refugees.
The party also wants to introduce a “nationwide payment card against remittances”. This is intended to allow asylum seekers to go shopping, but to prevent transfers to their home countries.
Because: So far, asylum seekers have received money and could theoretically send some of it to their home countries.
THAT is still in the FDP plan
► “Expand safe countries of origin and accelerate procedures.”
Specifically, the FDP wants to declare the states of Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria to be safe countries of origin. Rejected asylum seekers from these countries should be returned more quickly.
► “Consistent repatriation offensive” and “make the federal states more responsible – more staff, longer detention on departure”.
This means that immigration authorities should be better equipped by the states and get more staff. And: Departure custody should be extended from ten to 28 days.
► NO fixed controls at Germany’s borders! Instead, the EU’s external borders should be better protected.
According to the FDP plan, Italy and Greece should be given “better” support in “monitoring the border in the Mediterranean and preventing life-threatening smuggling crimes”. To this end, the EU border police Frontex should “also take over sea rescue in the Mediterranean and the disembarkation of those rescued to safe third countries with migration agreements”.
In addition, “physical barriers should also protect the EU’s external border”. And: the veil search should be strengthened at the German borders.
► “Implement the new European asylum system quickly”.
As the FDP demands, Germany must not “stand on the brakes” on the new EU asylum pact. It must be ensured that “refugees and migrants who have already stayed in a safe third country return there”.
► Asylum applications should also be processed outside the EU.
► “Promote voluntary departure through incentives”.
“Within the framework of the available budget resources, support measures for the voluntary departure of people who are obliged to leave the country must be expanded,” is the demand of the Lindner party. Because: A repatriation is “significantly more complex than a voluntary departure”.
