NEW ROADS – To cope with the closing of the dealerships, left with the shutters lowered in the lockdown in March and April, the car manufacturers have started experimenting with the online sale, with home delivery, of their vehicles. From May onwards, even with the end of the emergency period, this purchase formula has been further perfected, in the wake of the real boom in internet purchases. It is with this in mind that the FCA developed i virtual dealers e-Shop.
ONE PER BRAND – The e-Shop there are six of the FCA, one for each brand of the group: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Jeep and Fiat Professional for commercial vehicles. It is accessed from the official websites, then passing to a section where you can choose the car and its possible customizations; at the end of this phase, the customer must decide how to pay for the vehicle. After that, all that remains is to perform a storage area deposit of 500 euros, by credit card.
ALL ONLINE – The pre-order of the car is sent to a seller, who subsequently contacts the customer and submits the actual contract, to be signed in person or remotely. Only at this point the 500 euro deposit are transformed in advance and theorder becomes definitive; and so, the customer has nothing left to do but wait for delivery.
ALSO ABROAD – The purchase formula through e-Shop of the FCA it started from Italy, but the group has already announced that it will launch it, from the beginning of 2021, also in France and Belgium. Subsequently, by the first half of 2021, the platform will arrive in other European countries. Furthermore, the FCA has anticipated a future improvement to the graphics of its virtual car showrooms, where it will be possible to see a more accurate digital reconstruction of the car, as well as the possibility of buying used cars.
