Lübeck – The Gentlemen 30 of Lübeck THC start the 2023/2024 winter season with a double defeat. While the promotion favorites from Suchsdorf clearly beat the 1st Men’s 30 with a score of 6:0 and only lost one set, things aren’t looking good for the 2nd Men’s 30 either: nothing happened in the 0:6 against the strong TG Ravensberg from Kiel fetch. Only Jonas Schumacher in the first and Patrick Werner in the second 30-man men’s team we were almost able to celebrate personal success. But it wasn’t quite enough. While Werner admitted defeat with a narrow 7:6 6:7 5:10, Schumacher was only left with the title “Winner of Hearts” after the last rally despite a furious first set with 6:1 0:6 7:10.
“The hardest part is immediately behind you”
“The positive: It’s not easy to compete against the favorites at the start, but you’ve got the hardest part behind you straight away and can now fully concentrate on staying in the league,” says Oliver Hoffmann after the defeat in Kiel and, like his clubmates, already has his sights set on the next opponent.
The next game of the 1st Men’s 30 will take place away on November 25th against Heikendorfer TC. The women will also start their first league game on November 26th, playing in the TuS Lübeck tennis hall.
