A protest for a fair sentence was organized in front of the Court House in Plovdiv by a father who lost his only child in an accident. It will be from 8.00 am on June 22. The case against Petar Marinashki, guilty of the brutal accident near Stamboliyski, in which 17 and 16-year-olds Viktor Vassilev and Todor Barakov died, is scheduled for the same date.
The car crashed into a roadside tree near the gas station in the village of Kadievo. The father of the deceased Todor is seeking revenge and is indignant that the perpetrator of the severe accident is free, released on bail of BGN 2,000 and even tells the city that he will receive a suspended sentence because he has a strong lawyer.
Father Todor Barakov told about Plovdiv24.bgthat he expects the support of people from all over Bulgaria who have similar demands.
A striking detail in the case is that the driver was intoxicated with marijuana. According to the father, it is surprising that the field drug test that a police officer from Stamboliyski did to the driver after the accident was negative. While Peter was still in custody, Barakov’s lawyer, Antoaneta Nikolova, requested a blood sample.
She was examined at the Military Medical Academy and the result was positive for marijuana. For this reason, the indictment against Marinashki states that he violated the Traffic Act and, after using drugs, inadvertently caused the deaths of Todor and Viktor.
It is also known that the culprit for the accident Petar Marinashki was a fan of drift and on the unfortunate day he also tried to show his skills, claims the father of the deceased Todor.
Todor Barakov Sr., who has lived in France for a long time, also made a petition signed by more than 2,000 Bulgarians in different parts of the world, requesting that the case be heard under special supervision. There has already been an order from Chief Prosecutor Geshev, Barakov said.
The most scandalous statement of the father, who lost his son, is that the police officer investigating the accident, Mihail Mihov, concealed details of the case and thus hindered the investigation into the real causes of the serious accident. It is also interesting that this same policeman Mihov also investigated the accident on the Ring Road of Plovdiv, in which three people died on Easter.
The father believes he has unreviewed video footage. Together with his lawyer, he filed a complaint with former Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski against the actions of the police officer in question from Stamboliiski, who tested Marinashki immediately after the accident and reported a negative drug test. The same complaint states that there were 12 cameras at Kadievo’s gas station. Investigators had seized the records from 11, and the one looking at the tree did not ask for the record. The owner of the site was told that it was of poor quality, so they did not need it. Their complaint was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
The father was also extremely surprised when he learned that they had seen Marinashki driving only a day after he left the detention center. He later convinced himself with his own eyes that this was so. After making a fuss in the media, the prosecutor’s office ordered that Peter’s book be confiscated.
Todor Barakov also claims that the surviving witnesses are suspiciously silent and do not want to share details. All this, of course, is subject to proof by specialized bodies.
The most brazen thing is that Petar Marinashki also filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Todor Barakov. He complains that details of the investigation are being posted on social media. “Grotesque and shameless – Petar Marinashki, who caused Toshko’s death, became a complainant to the prosecutor’s office. He believes that I should bear criminal responsibility for my public efforts for the truth about the massacre he committed in the village of Kadievo on November 11, 2020, to come to light.
With my behavior and publications in the public space, as well as the referral to the competent authorities, in the manner prescribed by law, I have publicly expressed my personal subjective attitude to the tragedy of the death of my child caused by Peter Marinashki, his unclaimed book after causing a serious accident, with two deaths and his mild remand, which was not changed even after a drug was found in his blood.
This right of mine is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria.
However, this is not the opinion of the one who ruined my child’s life! The one who, without fear or hesitation, got behind the wheel as soon as he was released from custody and the funerals of Toshko and Victor had not yet been made!

Subsequently, the prosecutor’s office ruled that there was no evidence of pre-trial proceedings against Todor Barakov.
“No one should be indifferent, because the problems we have touched have no territorial boundaries. Showing the real face of the tragedy objectively helps in the general struggle against the negative life reflexes it evokes! Thanks again to everyone who stood by me!” I will continue to fight, in memory of my child! For less blackened families and destinies marked with monstrous pain! I count and believe that you will support me! ” the father wrote on the social network, expecting a fair sentence.
