The father and son of newsagents in Borgo San Lorenzo die 10 days later

They disappeared within days of each other, leaving a community in tears. Covid-19 took away the son, who died almost two weeks after his father.

Mugello is mourning the death of Piero and Luca Amaducci, both originally from Vicchio. They were well known in the area because they owned a newsstand in the historic center of Borgo San Lorenzo, the ‘Maghy’ in Corso Matteotti.

On Monday 24 August Luca Amaducci passed away when he was only 47 years old. Passionate about football and rock music, he leaves behind his partner and a small son. In the first days of August he had contracted the variant of Covid-19, which in about a month did not give him a chance. On social networks he himself has documented, as much as possible, his hospital stay. At the beginning of August he spoke of “fever ranging between 30 and 40 degrees, hallucinations, cough and sore throat”.

The appeal, always via Facebook, to get vaccinated against Covid-19 was also very heartfelt: “I didn’t succeed due to personal problems. Logically it seems right to have doubts, talk to your doctor for more info. But in the end the vaccine is essential “.

Luca Amaducci’s drama came almost ten days after that of his father ‘colleague Pier Mario, known as Piero or with the nickname of’ Ciccino ‘. Due to the illness that had struck him, he had long ago left the counter behind the newspapers in Corso Matteotti, from where he dispensed football magazines and opinions, given his innate faith for Juventus. He ended up in hospital, in serious condition and with oxygen, as his son Luca wrote on social media. He passed away at the age of 72 on 13 August.

Not even two weeks later the tragedy of the son took place, on whose Facebook wall many friends or acquaintances are leaving a last memory, both for Luca and for Piero. “We will miss you with your smiles, we are incredulous” we read, or “Now who will sing outside the newsstand, who will we talk to about Juventus?”.

Vicchio and Borgo San Lorenzo are in tears. The vicchiese mayor Filippo Carlà Campa expressed the condolences of the community: “I learned of the news of Luca’s death, a few days after that of his father Piero. “.
