Twelve footballers returned from their loans at the beginning of 2023, some of them stayed at the club at the request of Demichelis, others went on loan, some terminated their contracts and only one is looking for a club.
Martín Demichelis had to make important decisions since his arrival at River. One of the main ones was linked to the assembly of the campus and For that, he had to carry out an important analysis of both the players who were already at the club and also those who had to return from their loans.
In total there were twelve footballers who returned to the Millionaire at the beginning of 2023 and only three of them received the go-ahead from Demichelis to fight for a place: Tomás Castro Ponce, Elías López and Tomás Lecandathe latter unfortunately suffered a severe injury in the first part of the preseason and is currently in the process of recovery.

Tomas Castro Ponce: Demichelis decided to count on him and in fact gave him minutes in friendlies in the United States. The midfielder had been on loan at Godoy Cruz.
Tomas Lecanda: he returned from his loan in Aldosivi and Demichelis considered it. Unfortunately, he tore his ligaments and is in full recovery.
Elias Lopez: Demichelis took him to the preseason in the United States and when he is physically optimal he will be taken into account. He returned from his loan at Godoy Cruz, where he tore ligaments.
Augustus Battle: He renewed his loan with San Lorenzo.
Alex Vigo: He went on a one-year loan to Serbian Red Star with a $2.2 million purchase option.
Augusto Aguirre: contractually parted ways with River and will continue his career at San Martín de San Juan.
Thomas Gutiérrez: He terminated his contract with River and signed at Deportivo Pereira in Colombia. He will play the Copa Libertadores 2023.
Hernan Lopez Muñoz: He went on loan to Godoy Cruz on loan until December 31, 2023, he has a purchase option of one million dollars for 50% of the pass.
Matias Benitez: He terminated his contract with El Más Grande and was already presented at Racing de Montevideo.
Franco Paredes: He extended his contract with River until December 2025 and then went on a one-year loan to Racing de Montevideo.
Tomas Galvan: Newell’s and Colón are interested in him and everything indicates that he will continue his career at Sabalero.
