Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Toyota Avanza is one of the best-selling cars in Indonesia. If you drive in cities, you can easily find this type of car on the streets.
However, the pandemic made this one car fail to maintain the top of the best-selling car chain. Especially after the launch of the All New Toyota and All New Veloz in November 2021, the Avanza name is no longer at the top of the best-selling cars.
Meanwhile, in January-February 2022, Avanza must refer to the Suzuki Carry Pick-up and Honda Brio. Entering the third month of 2022, the Avanza’s steps were again tripped, this time by Toyota Innova.
Automotive observer Munawar Chalil had time to analyze that the cause was many factors. He said this phenomenon must be seen from the aspect of the Avanza market itself.
“So far, the Avanza market has mostly been bought by corporations for the needs of the fleet and employee consumers. During the pandemic, everything was affected. The company withheld spending and many employees were cut salaries and laid off,” he told CNBC Indonesia some time ago.
Meanwhile, automotive observer Bebin Djuana, this decline is because people have many choices now, one of which is Xpander.
Avanza also has to face changes since the launch of the All New Veloz and All New Avanza. The business group, Astra decided, to produce Avanza by Astra Daihatsu Manufacturing, and Avanza by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN).
Initially, the sales data of the two, Avanza and Veloz were combined. Because of that, it seems that Avanza sales data always dominates the car market chart in Indonesia. Now, with the end of the PPnBM discount and the entry into force of the new VAT rate of 11%, Avanza also has to start recording its own sales, without accumulating sales with Veloz.
