The Fate of Telkomsel Orbit: Targeting Home Internet Users and the Impact of IndiHome

Jakarta

Telkomsel Orbit become a mainstay Telkomsel to target home internet users. With presence IndiHome to Telkomsel, how is the fate of Telkomsel Orbit?

Vice President of Sales Strategy Telkomsel Adhi Putranto answered this question when met on the sidelines of the Telkomsel Awards press conference in Jakarta, Thursday (13/7/2023).

“Well, from a technology point of view, Orbit actually has mobile, FWA, and FTTH. Mobile is what we use now, FWA is fixed wireless access, and FTTH is Fiber to the Home, it’s IndiHome,” said Adhi.

“The principle is the same, Telkomsel is now not serving individuals (anymore) but serving households. So, which one is the fastest serving customers, that’s what we provide (to customers) households,” he continued.

Meanwhile, if there is no access at the user’s location IndiHomefor Telkomsel will first offer the product Telkomsel Orbit.

“But if IndiHome already exists of We are slowly upgrading the orbit to Indihome, we offer it because FTTH is the most comfortable,” said Adhi.

Telkomsel will present FMC products which are planned to be held on July 21, 2023 to coincide with the 2023 Telkomsel Awards.

Previously, after the signing of the deed of separation (deed of spin-off) Telkom and Telkomsel at the end of last June, IndiHome is now under the auspices of Telkomsel starting July 1, 2023.

With the release of IndiHome, Telkom will focus on the sector business to business (B2B) and Telkomsel are targeting business to consumer (B2C).

IndiHome and Telkomsel’s marriage also enriched the service fixed mobile convergence (FMC), which is a product resulting from the merger of fixed broadband and mobile broadband.
