Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, Haftar’s spokesman, said in a statement (Monday evening) that the number of victims reached 4,029 deaths. He pointed out that 697 bodies were recovered in the city during the past week.

According to statistics, 647 bodies were buried in the Martouba cemetery, while 50 other bodies were buried in the Dhahr al-Hamar cemetery. Al-Mismari also conveyed the obituary of the Police and Military Prisons Department, six of its members who died during an attempt to save the people of the city of Derna from the torrential floods.

For his part, Othman Abdel Jalil, Minister of Health in the Stabilization Government, announced that 101 medical personnel were missing as a result of the hurricane in Derna and its environs, while the Libyan News Agency said that the list of missing people includes doctors, pharmacists, and administrators.

In this context, the Public Prosecutor said during his meeting (Monday evening) with a delegation from the State Council in Tripoli, that investigations related to the Derna disaster “are taking place normally, and there are no obstacles.” He explained that administrative procedures for the deceased and missing persons “are carried out in an organized manner with the relevant authorities.”

For its part, the stability government, headed by Osama Hammad, today (Tuesday), in its first meeting in Derna, confirmed its intention to reconstruct the city, and called on everyone to assume their responsibilities, and the honest national authorities to assume their responsibilities in “reuniting.” Announcing the start of the committee, which was formed by Khaled Masoud, Minister of Justice, to inventory the damage caused by floods and torrents in the Ministry’s affiliated entities in a number of cities and regions in the east of the country, within the framework of the government’s keenness to limit the human and material damage to its affiliated institutions.
