After setting a new record among SUVs, Porsche also achieved success in the road car section. However, it was not a fully production car.

Porsche boasted breaking another record at the famous Nürburgring. Following the recent setting of a new SUV record by the unnamed top version of the Cayenne Coupé, a new Porsche 911 GT2 RS – equipped with the Manthey Performance Kit – has now set a new record for road cars.

Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who got behind the wheel, managed to conquer the famous circuit in 6: 43.300. The previous record time held by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series fell by 4,747 seconds. We are talking about a longer version of the circuit with a length of 20.8 km. On the older version of the track, measuring only 20.6 km, then AMG reached a time of 6: 43.616. The success of Porsche is therefore unquestionable.
While many might argue that it is not fair to compare the successes of the standard AMG with the modified Porsche, it is worth mentioning that the Manthey Performance Kit was developed in collaboration with Porsche technicians and is offered by the carmaker itself as part of Porsche Tequipment at its European dealers.

The set includes a modified diffuser, a unique rear spoiler and other elements that improve the car’s aerodynamics. At speeds of around 200 km / h, the modified Porsche offers 21 kilograms more downforce on the front axle and 107 kilograms on the rear axle. In addition, the package includes new 20 and 21-inch magnesium alloy wheels, composite carbon brakes with special pads and new coilovers with adjustable dampers.
„With the Manthey Performance Kit, the 911 GTS RS stays glued to the track – you feel like you’re sitting in a race car – especially in fast corners,“The driver Lars Kern summed up his impressions. “It’s breathtaking how the car delivers 700 horsepower and how well it brakes – while always remaining easy to control.“
