The railway museum of the German city of Bad Nauheim houses an unusual Volga GAZ-21. A Soviet car converted into a trolley. About it reports Carakoom website.

The original tuning of the Volga was carried out in Yugoslavia. The local railway company Jugoslovenske Železnice used the handcar to inspect transport infrastructure.

GAZ-21 “Volga” of the third series (1962-1973) received huge railway wheels, for which it was necessary to install a spring front suspension. In addition, a coupling device appeared at the front (it allows the Volga to become a carriage on a train) and special jacks were added to allow the car to be lifted and driven off the rails.

By the early 2000s, the Volga had fallen into complete disrepair
After the collapse of Yugoslavia, the Volga railcar worked in Macedonia – it was registered with the Makedonski Železnici company in Skopje. Gradually the car fell into complete disrepair and was left to rust in the open air.
The car has been restored and is kept in a German museum
In 2005, the GAZ-21 was bought by a German museum and in 2008-2009 it underwent a complete restoration, after which it was tested in Germany. Since 2010, the car has been exhibited in the museum.
