“Good evening Norway” host Dorthe Skappel (59) will be seen a lot on the TV screen in the future.
Skappel is namely one of the twelve new “Farm” celebrities which on Tuesday moves into Bøensætre farm in Aremark, where the farm takes place in the same way as 100 years ago. For six weeks, the twelve will keep the farm going – at the same time as they will compete to keep their place in the TV program.

The “Good evening Norway” presenter is probably the one of the participants who has the most TV experience, but she still makes no secret of the fact that she dreads the premiere. The 59-year-old tells Nettavisen that she never had plans to join a TV concept such as “Farmen kjendis”:
– I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also quite scared. I thought I should never be in any kind of reality, so it’s a bit like that … I think we all have an opinion of ourselves about how we are and who we are. So for me it’s the scariest thing. Who am I? Or how will they portray me?
– Know I can be «bossy»
Skappel is not among the celebrities who have been seen in so many reality concepts throughout.
She has previously been on the TV 2 program “Skal vi danse”, but that is it. Thus, viewers have not gotten to know the host in the way you get through a reality show such as “The Farm Celebrity”. Now she is excited about how the total package will be through the TV screen.
– I want to come out in the best possible way, and I know that I have my weaknesses like everyone else. So seeing how distinct it is, that’s really what I dread. I know I can have a temperament, and I know I can be “bossy”, Dorthe Skappel tells Nettavisen and adds:
– But to what extent?
Skappel, on the other hand, is not worried about being portrayed as “wrong”.
– That there are aspects of me that I may not be so proud of, but that I must admit that I have, I know. But it’s not to make me wrong. So it’s probably more that it will be a shock to see how you are. That’s what’s scary.
– I also dread to see how everyone else perceives me, says the host.
Feared by some participants
Ahead of Tuesday’s premiere, TV 2 has shared a sneak peek at this year’s season on social media, where it is clear in one of the clips exactly what the other participants thought when they saw that Skappel appeared on the reality farm.
My God, Dorthe. She’s the queen. And crap, says the former “Sommerhytta” winner Øyunn Krogh (26) in an Instagram clip shared by TV 2 ahead of the premiere.

For Skappel herself, however, it took some time before she realized that some feared her at the beginning of the farm stay.
– When I came in I was just very excited, really. So it took a while before I realized it, it was probably only when Øyunn came and told me that she was terrified when I came in, she laughs.
She does not know what caused it, but she has a suspicion:
– I think it’s probably about being in public for a long time and that people thus have an opinion of you. After all, I have been on TV for 25 years, and then maybe you get a picture of and an experience of meeting something big? I do not know. But the queen title I got, it disappeared pretty quickly, she laughs.
– Incredibly stressful
At “Farmen kjendis” the participants live and run the farm as they did 100 years ago, and one might think that the hard work and the limited diet are the toughest.
For Dorthe Skappel, on the other hand, the challenge was something completely different.
– Parts of it are more brutal than you think when you see it on TV. The social and being forced together was more brutal than I imagined, the 59-year-old honestly tells Nettavisen.

– Living the old fashioned way and having tools and everything there that was 100 years back in time, it was perfectly ok. It was less difficult than I thought, in fact. I do not think it was a problem to live on potatoes and a pork bone here and there. We got food and it was fine. I do not think that was bad at all. It was the social that was most difficult for me there.
In any case, Skappel is glad she was with, and she would never have been without. But she would never do it again either.
– It is incredibly stressful to be twelve people together, who are really only placed there at random, she says.
– Pushing people together in a small area and combining it with little sleep and food … Then everything is reinforced to a very large degree. I was so frayed at one point that I almost shivered.
– Has swallowed many camels
With everything being reinforced, Skappel refers, among other things, to conflicts inside the reality farm. She believes that conflicts on the farm will be far greater than they would be in real life.
– In there, there is a bunch of people who are required to cooperate and get along. And it does not always happen. And trifles become very big because we have little food, a lot of work and are very tired. Then the conflicts that arise may be stronger than they had become on the outside, Skappel says.

Skappel herself describes herself as a cloud of conflict, but she makes no secret of the fact that there were some discussions on the farm.
– I have swallowed many camels, and on the outside I would probably in many cases leave the situation, she laughs.
Do not have contact with the others
Despite conflicts and an intense farm stay, the participants in “Farmen kjendis” often become a close-knit gang after the recording. However, this does not apply to Dorthe Skappel.
– Unlike the others, I have not had anything to do with the others since I came out of there, she says to Nettavisen.
The host herself thinks this is because she does not have much in common with her reality colleagues.
– It’s probably a lot about that if you are 24-25 years old and come to a place like that where there are many like-minded people and you are the same age and such, then it is a little different. I was the oldest, have lived the longest and do not have much in common with many of them, says “Good evening Norway” host to Nettavisen.
– So it’s not quite like that for me, that is. They came out there and said, “Oh, I love you all so much.” No, I’m not there at all. But I do care about them. And I think everyone in there was nice people in their own way, Skappel explains.
In other words, Skappel will probably not gather the “Farmen kjendis” gang to watch the episodes together on TV.
– I will follow, but I think I will do it quietly with people I care about, and not with any of those I was there with. It’s like a nightmare to me. Then you have to start defending what you have done, and … No, it’s completely cruel, Skappel says and laughs.
