The Farewell director makes a short film with iPhone 12 Pro Max for Chinese New Year

The Chinese director Lulu Wang (The Farewell) has the short film on the occasion of Chinese New Year on 12 February Nian made after an old Chinese folk tale. Nian was completely run with the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The plot revolves around a curious girl who goes in search of Nian, a monster who eats children lost in the woods. However, she discovers that Nian is not at all as scary as in the bedtime stories her mother tells.

In a making-of-featurette, Wang touts the capabilities of the iPhone 12 Pro Max for filmmakers. “It was really fun figuring out where to place the iPhone so we got a slightly more unique angle,” she says.
