The famous pole vaulter who represented Chuvashia retires from the sport

Anzhelika Sidorova is leaving big sport. The athlete competed for Chuvashia. She reported this on her page in telegrams.

32-year-old Anzhelika Sidorova decided to end her career. The girl competed for Chuvashia at different levels for many years and went down in athletics history as one of five women who managed to overcome the five-meter barrier in the pole vault. In September 2023, Angelica gave birth to a son and decided to leave the sport.

“I think many of you already understood where things were going and it seems the time has come to put an end to it. The whole year from the moment I found out that I was pregnant, I persuaded myself not to rush, I left myself a chance to change my mind, but it didn’t work out. Unfortunately, over the past few years, I have completely stopped enjoying athletics. So yes, I am officially ending my sports career. I will not be returning to the sector,” the athlete said on December 9.

Sidorova is a six-time Russian champion, world champion (2019) and European champion (2014). She is a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics (2020). Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2014).
