Peter de Vries, the journalist who spoke about the most important criminal cases in the Netherlands, died after was shot in the head last week, Reuters reported.

De Vries, 64, was known for investigating more than 500 murders and even played an important role in clarifying some old cases. As a still young journalist, in 1983 he worked on the abduction of the tycoon Freddie Heineken and after this episode began his career.

Since the age of 17 she has had her own television program, with which she has won international awards. Despite working on landmark cases, he did not want security, arguing that “even if you have police officers on the left or right, they can always shoot you in the front.”

On July 6, he was shot dead in the evening in a central area of ​​Amsterdam after leaving the studio of a show to which he was a frequent guest. Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced that he will do everything possible to resolve the case.
