The popular Droomvlucht attraction in Efteling will be closed for four months. The so-called dark ride is undergoing renovations: both the technology and the decorations will be adapted in the near future.
For example, the 260 steel intermediate pieces on top of the 425 meter long rail are replaced manually. There are 28 gondolas hanging from this track, which ‘fly’ through different scenarios with mythical figures.
The rails suffer from wear. Its refurbishment is a time-consuming job, says project coordinator Stefan van der Putten Looping.
Architectural maintenance will also be carried out on the Droomvlucht roof. The replacement of various ceiling and wall sheets is in progress. In addition, parts of the furniture are cleaned, painted and repaired if necessary. Finally, all the lights in the attraction will be replaced by LED lamps.
The intention is that Droomvlucht will reopen to the public in early March next year. The attraction opened in May 1993 and is still one of Efteling’s most popular attractions.
