The family of the observer who was murdered in captivity will light a memorial candle

This week, the friends of the late Noa Marciano gathered in the recording studio and recorded the song they wrote in her memory. Mother Adi and father Avi came to listen – and Noa was so present in the room when they incorporated a part of her into the song. It is a time full of rituals, and Noa’s parents, with two other bereaved parents , lighting a memorial torch at the beacon ceremony. The lighting was filmed at the Nahal Oz outpost, where many of the female observers were murdered.

When asked about the lighting of the beacon, my father, the late Noa’s father, said: “I see around me many officers and many military men. I say in my head – ‘Where have you been?'” The bereaved father added and told about the events of that black Sabbath: “6:30 in the morning, our daughter Yuval comes to us with a phone – Noa is shouting, crying. She said: ‘There is an attack on our outpost.’ She said that she was in the shelter, so what came to my mind was: ‘Well, close the door, be in the shelter. The IDF will take care of you. You are in good hands.”

Adi, the late Noa’s mother, told about the last conversation with her daughter: “I manage to catch her – the time is 7:30 in the morning. I hear silence and she whispers to me: ‘Mom, I need to be quiet now and I need to hang up.’ I didn’t know that this would be the last conversation, I didn’t know that I had to say goodbye to her at this point. How did I not tell her that I love her?”.

Avi and Adi talked about days of uncertainty, days when they had no idea what was happening with their daughter. They looked for a sign, a sign of life – but nothing came. “We have been with the phone for three days, and anyone who calls me I just hang up,” shared my father. “Perhaps during this time Noa will also try to call.” But after two days, my father’s brother came to him with a video that Hamas released and distributed on Telegram, where Noa is seen being forced. “We gave the video to the army and they checked it, and after two days they came back to us and said that the video is authentic,” my father recalled. “After two days is this your answer? I was shocked by the chaos in the army.”

To this day, Adi has not seen the brutal video that Hamas published in mid-November. On the other hand, my father said: “A military man came to me and told me that a video from Hamas should be released soon. He asked me not to watch the video, but I immediately opened Telegram. I saw the video – and I realized that the girl is no longer with us. It is hell to watch such a video alone “. At dawn in the morning, there were knocks on the door, which Adi opened and saw officers she did not know. “I kept saying – she is with a family, they will take good care of her, there are good people, they will see the good in her, she will not harm them”, she shared. “It took me a while to digest. They asked me if there were any more children, and they were all asleep. I told them, give them some more.”

Noa was taken by Hamas terrorists from the place where she was held into the walls of Shifa Hospital – where she was murdered by a Hamas terrorist. “Apparently she was injured as a result of an Air Force operation,” said my father. “They rushed her to Shifa and there they preferred to simply murder her – it was a doctor who did it.”

Adi and Avi have a lot of anger at the system – they feel that the female observers have been neglected. On the last Sukkot holiday, they said that Noa said around the table: Get ready, after Sukkot there is war. “Even if the head of the Amman did not understand that it was supposed to be in Sukkot and he abandoned our girls there, then I say, young soldier, will she say there will be a war?” cried Adi. They said that Noa had seen the Hamas training and knew that its terrorists were going to invade Israel. “I feel that I gave the IDF the most important thing in my life,” said my father in pain. “What is it that I give my eldest daughter, recruit her – and the IDF simply disregards her?”.

When asked if they asked for answers, my father answered: “There are those who think that it is because they left the army – that’s when they finished their duty and they paid their punishment. Absolutely not – we want them with the rank of private in prison. 1,500 people were killed here and there are guilty people here. We cannot allow the Miron disaster Let it be here as well. If they don’t sit in prison, we will be under their house until the end of their lives.” Abi added and referred to a possible kidnapping deal: “There must be a deal, it’s not a question at all. There won’t be a country if there isn’t a deal. This is the most important thing we need to do now.”
