The family care system operating in Jonava was discussed at the conference

On Tuesday, the Jonava district municipality held a conference “Jonava child care on the road”, where the district’s social, educational, health care, child rights protection and other fields specialists and child guardians discussed the family care system operating in the Jonava district, the challenges and opportunities of care.

The Social Services Center (SPC) of the Jonava district has been performing the functions of the Care Center for five years. As a result of this activity, a child care system in the family has been created and is operating in the Jonava district, the municipality reports.

According to Valentina Demidenko, head of SPC, 153 children – 80 percent – are currently in foster care in the Jonava district. they grow up in foster families, under the supervision of Care Center specialists.

“I am extremely proud of the fact that Jonava has people in its community who are determined to create emotional and physical security for children who, for a variety of reasons, cannot grow up in their biological family.

This is an important and respectable sign of the stature of our community”, said Birutė Gailienė, deputy mayor of the Jonava district, at the conference.

The participants and guests of the conference were also greeted by council member Birutė Platkauskienė, advisor to Seimas member E. Sabutis Audronė Bagdonavičienė.

Rugilė Ladauskienė, head of the Ministry of Social Security and Labor’s project “Increasing the child’s well-being and safety, increasing the quality of services for families and guardians and expanding accessibility”, presented the situation of child care in the family on a national scale, and the psychologist of the Care Center Jūratė Beniulienė reviewed the psychosocial characteristics of the children in care.
