Disney + is happy about a milestone: “WandaVision” and “The Mandalorian” are no longer the most-watched series.

Disney + started in Germany in 2020. Since then, the streaming service has published more and more in-house productions. At the very beginning, for example, the “Star Wars” highlight appeared „The Mandalorian“*. At the beginning of the year, users were able to look forward to “WandaVision” as the first Marvel series. Both productions were well received and received a lot of clicks. Now a new series could top the two Disney hits: The streaming service announced that “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is currently available as most watched series from Disney + applies. In the course of this announcement, the group kept a relevant detail secret.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” sets a record for Disney + ‘s most watched series

Netflix tends not to be particularly open about viewership. Nevertheless, the number of clicks on the most successful originals is now known. It is different with Disney +: The streaming service expresses itself not even approximate numbers for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” record.

Like among other things Variety reported, the company only announced that the Marvel production had the most successful launch weekend to date. “WandaVision” and “The Mandalorian” only follow in 2nd and 3rd place. In addition, the first episode was the most frequently viewed content on the platform worldwide. Disney does not provide any figures in this context either.

Variety therefore took a look at the data company’s analyzes Samba TV. According to this, around 1.7 million people would have watched the first episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on the starting weekend. In comparison, there were only slightly fewer viewers on “WandaVision” with 1.6 million clicks. It counts as a click as soon as users have streamed at least five minutes of an episode.

Disney + ‘s new record is not too surprising

Variety reminds us that the record should not be overstated. Ultimately, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is just about the third major in-house production of the streaming service. Since the number of users of the platform is also increasing rapidly, the success is not particularly surprising. It will get more exciting as soon as Disney + offers more and more new series in the next few years. (soa) * tz.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
