The audience spat after this picture.
Domestic filmmakers are haunted by the popularity of Hollywood blockbusters. The dream of almost every Russian director is to make his own action-packed film that will collect a decent box office. Dzhanik Fayziev also tried to do this. However, the plan of the director of “The Turkish Gambit” failed miserably.
The film “Galaxy Goalkeeper” was released in 2020. The picture told about the future after interspace wars. 786 million rubles were allocated for the filming of the film, and together with advertising costs it came out to almost a billion. Many celebrities were also involved in working on the blockbuster: Elena Yakovleva, Mikhail Efremov, Evgeny Mironov.
However, instead of the film of the year, it turned out to be zilch. At the box office, Fayziev’s creation collected a little more than 100 million rubles. It’s not just the pandemic: both critics and audiences criticized the movie for its plot holes and ill-conceived character portrayals. As a result, the Cinema Fund filed a lawsuit against the creators demanding the return of the invested money.
