After moving to the United States and working in publishing for two-and-a-half years, Síne returned to Ireland during the economic boom known as the Celtic Tiger. She took on positions with prominent publishing companies such as O’Brien’s and Veritas while also freelancing to expand her portfolio.
“I set up Beehive, a general interest list with Veritas, and collaborated with Gill on reader reports,” Síne explained. Her dedication to the craft eventually led her to her most recent role as a commissioning editor for Merrion.
Bridging Experiences with Literary Aspirations
Over the years, Síne’s writing journey evolved. After editing a lifestyle book in 2015, she ghostwrote several works and began experimenting with her own ideas. In 2020, she published Holy Shocking Saints, a creative venture that inspired her subsequent project, which focuses on the beguiling theme of dark faeries. This thematic evolution signifies not only her growth as a writer but also her ability to tap into the rich tapestry of Irish folklore.
“I’ve always had a few ideas for books. I’d tentatively try things and send bits to friends,” she said, highlighting the experimentation that fuels her creative process.

Outside of her literary life, Síne harbors dreams of being a tightrope walker, a testament to her adventurous spirit. “When I was 4 or 5, I saw Fossetts Circus. I’d love to be brave enough to be a tightrope walker,” she reflects, connecting this aspiration with the courage needed in both circus arts and writing.
