The fact that the sky is blue, it turns out that this is the cause!

The fact that the sky is blue has a reason. The blue color of the sky can occur due to several factors. Indeed, the blue color has become the hallmark of heaven on Earth.

Perhaps many people have wondered, what is the reason why the sky can be blue. Some people think that the color of the sky is a reflection of the color of the seas and oceans.

In fact, that’s incorrect. Indeed, the blue color that appears in the sky can be explained scientifically. How the color of the sky can be formed to be seen by the human eye has a special explanation.

Blue sky facts on earth

When you look at the sky during the day, it appears blue. Actually this phenomenon is similar to the blue ocean phenomenon.

When viewed from a distance, the sea will appear blue. However, if you look closely, the water in the sea will seem clear.

Surely this raises a question in your mind, how can the sky actually appear blue?

According to NASA, blue skies occur due to sunlight reaching the earth’s atmosphere. The light is then scattered in all directions by all gases and particles in the air.

Blue is a color that spreads more than any other because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. That’s why you can see that the sky is blue most of the time.

NASA also explains that light from the Sun is white. But that light is actually made up of the entire spectrum of different colors, just like a rainbow.

Rayleigh theory

There is Rayleigh’s theory that explains the fact that the sky is blue. In this theory, several reasons for the blue color of the sky are explained, namely:

1. Sunlight

The sun emits light with a wide spectrum of different colors and waves. When viewed with the naked eye, sunlight will be yellowish white, but it actually looks like a rainbow.

2. The Earth’s atmosphere

The atmosphere greatly influences the creation of the blue color of sunlight. There are various particles in the atmosphere such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and so on.

When sunlight enters the atmosphere, interactions occur with these particles and cause Rayleigh scattering.

3. Human vision

The human eye is more sensitive to blue than to violet. That’s why the eye can identify the color of the sky as blue.

The color of the sky of other planets

The skies on Earth and on other planets are obviously different. Each planet has a different sky color. On Uranus, the evening sky turns a turquoise color.

On Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, the sky turns from yellow to orange and brown at sunset.

The atmosphere greatly affects the fact that the sky is blue on Earth and not all planets have it. Another example is that the sky on Mars is blue because the atmosphere is thinner than Earth’s. (R10/HR-Online)
