At a time when social networks are means of communication used by all generations, in Breteuil (Eure), they bring people together.
This is the case of the Facebook page entitled “Breteuil and his discoveries“, which brings together 5,800 subscribers for just over 4,000 inhabitants across the three former communes of Breteuil, Cintray and La Guéroulde.
“A pleasant group”, managed by Philippe and Marie
Created on August 9, 2022, by “Dom”, also creator of the group “Bernay, land of talents”, the Breteuil group continues to grow in particular thanks to the work of Philippe Horaista pharmacist in Breteuil for 25 years, who has seen the torch passed to him.
Supported by Marie, the account moderator, both of them monitor each publication to avoid “disrespectful behavior, controversial topics and debates.”
The group is nice, we don’t have to watch much.

Events in the surrounding area, History, photographs…
On this page, only the positive is accepted. “I regularly share photos of Breteuil and its surroundings, we also have André Duprey who shares a lot of archive photos. People like to find old photos with faces that are familiar to them,” explains the manager.

Breteuil and its discoveries are primarily about relaying information about events, for example, sharing memories with Bretoliens, or preserving the History of Breteuil. “A lot of people use it to find out what they’re going to do on the weekend,” notes Philippe.
Became “too local” compared to the number of subscribers
But with more subscribers than inhabitants in Breteuil, it is obvious that some members come from other cities. And it is for this reason that Philippe decided to expand to the south of Eure.
It has become too local. We cannot deprive ourselves of other events that take place in the surrounding communities.

From now on, publications shared on this group will concern other towns in the south of Eure such as Verneuil, Rugles, Conches or Damville, “up to 25 or 30 minutes away by car”.
However, “Breteuil will remain the priority”, and regulars will still find the same kind of content, but richer.
“Breteuil sur Iton and its surroundings” is what the group will be called.
