The Facebook Dilemma: Documentary aired on February 17.

Fueled by numerous archive footage and interviews, the American documentary The Facebook Dilemma shows the impact of the number one social network in the world on democracy and the privacy of users in the United States and elsewhere.

This film by James Jacoby can be viewed on Wednesday February 17 from 8:55 p.m. on the Planète + channel (part 2 the same evening at 9:50 p.m.).

Initially, Facebook promised to create an open and more connected world. Mark Zuckerberg, a former Harvard student and founder of the famous social network first intended for American students, had not imagined that he would one day lead a planetary empire. Faced with the company’s failure to protect the personal data of its users – two billion in 2019 – and the proliferation of fake news and disinformation, and the growing crises that they generate, a question important now is: is Facebook more harmful than useful?

Through the developments experienced by the company, born in Mark Zuckerberg’s university residence at Harvard, from its beginnings to the present day, this documentary attempts to answer this question.
