New York, Nov. 29. Today, for the first time in its history, the facade of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York has been illuminated for the first time on its facade, thanks to the initiative of a Spanish company in this iconic temple on Fifth Avenue.
The Spanish company that came up with the project and managed to convince the church is Coolture, which installed it for free from today until the end of February between 6pm and midnight, i.e. during the Christmas holiday peak and several other weeks, Ana Calvo de Luis, director of the company, explained to EFE.
St. Patrick thus joined two of New York’s most emblematic monuments in terms of Christmas lighting: the gigantic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree (which, by the way, “lights up” tomorrow Wednesday) and the Saks department store, both in near the cathedral and in one of the busiest and most visited areas of New York.
Strange as it may seem, the cathedral, despite being one of the main tourist destinations in the Big Apple, until today did not have any external lighting, and Coolture’s idea is that this lighting released today will continue for the rest of the year if will be able to find the funds for its financing.
The lighting released today, which has been obtained without external intervention (i.e. it comes from within) is now amber in colour, although these are LED lights and can be adjusted to other shades, depending on the preference of the cathedral managers. EFE extension
