The president of the Christian Democracy (DC), Fuad Chahín, referred this Wednesday to the controversies around the future alliances that the Broad Front will make and the refusal to generate an electoral pact with the former Concertation.
Chahín reacted to the statements of Giorgio Jackson and Gabriel Boric, who indicated that an electoral alliance with the FA was natural, even the first indicated that the reluctance of the DC to be – again – in a conglomerate with the Communist Party.
“It is a great disappointment for the whole country, that the Broad Front that proposed to be a modern alternative, to renew politics, ends up subordinate behind the Communist Party, which is the most conservative and orthodox party of the extreme left in our country, ”Chahín accused.
The former deputy valued the resignations of Natalia Castillo and Pablo Vidal, in addition to the departure of the Liberal Party of Vlado Mirosevic from the FA, show that the conglomerate “has taken the path of absolute leftism, of subjugating the Communist Party.”
“We want to leave the neoliberal model behind, but the Communist Party to which Giorgio Jackson feels so close, sees Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea as a model to follow. We don’t, we see Germany, the Nordic countries, the Basque Country as an example (…) Our paradigms are totally different, ”said Chahín.
Along the same lines, the president of the DC indicated that they assumed as Concertación they made mistakes, but that there were successes and that they are now beginning a new stage, explaining that the FA does not carry out any self-criticism due to the constant departures of parties or movements of the conglomerate.
“One cannot pretend to be an alternative simply by criticizing the rest, We have a self-criticism, we know that mistakes were made, but also that there were quite a few hits, which allowed several achievements in the economic and social sphere, but without a doubt today we must face a new stage ”, he stated.
