Yesterday, Saturday, Doha’s Al Bidda Park witnessed the official opening of the World Cup Fan Festival, where FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the launch of the festival, wishing the public to enjoy the Qatar World Cup activities.

Infantino said that the tournament represents an opportunity for people to live together to promote the diffusion of football culture in the world.

At an earlier press conference in Doha, the FIFA president denounced criticism of the World Cup, which he described as hypocritical moral lessons.

Infantino said: “We have heard many moral lessons from Europeans and Western countries. I am a European citizen and I believe that what we Europeans have done in the last 3,000 years we must apologize for the next 3,000 years before giving lessons to others.”

At the same time, the FIFA president affirmed Qatar’s full readiness to host the best World Cup and the willingness of tournament officials to provide a safe environment for fans.

He also indicated that Qatar had developed a lot in the field of workers’ rights protection and that he was aware of the development achieved by Doha in the field of human rights.
