The Extremadura School Library Network exceeds 400 centers in the academic year 2023/2024

The Extremadura School Library Network (REBEX) has exceeded 400 educational institutions in the academic year 2023/2024, now adding 425 since it was launched in 2006 as a pilot experience with 46 institutions. Every year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training publishes a new call for membership in the network in which educational institutions responsible for this Ministry that serve the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, Education Primary, Secondary Education, Special Education to participate. . The call for this course has had one line of funding for educational institutions that wanted to join the REBEX; Once resolved, 40 new centers have been introduced and the Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training has distributed 80,000 euros, with the highest amount 4,000 and the lowest 1,452 euros . All educational institutions belonging to REBEX have so far received a direct allocation of 311.69 euros, so a total of 120,000 euros have been allocated to this action. In this sense, a budgetary effort has been made that has a total amount of 200,000 euros, an amount that is integrated into the Strategic Plan for School Libraries and Reading Extremadura (LAR), launched in in 2021 and will last four. years. In its line of action ‘School Libraries as drivers of change’, the strategic plan aims to develop school libraries as educational spaces that have the best perspectives to implement innovative approaches, which are essential for developing students’ multiliteracies and core competencies. Likewise, during this same course, other points of the plan were examined, such as strategic line 3 ‘Network for innovation’, which includes measures aimed at development and research and reflection on collaboration, within the REBEX, as well as improving management and support from the Education Administration. In this sense, last October the call for a selection of innovation projects to be developed by educational institutions with REBEX was published. After evaluating the projects presented and updating the previous year, in the academic year 2023/2024 a total of 73 REBEX innovation projects were developed, one of them intermediate, and the h -reports currently being evaluated and evidence. has been delivered, so the list of innovation credits will be published at the beginning of the next academic year.
