The Extremadura Film Residence opens the deadline for receiving film projects until September 12

The Extremadura Film Residence has opened the deadline for receiving feature-length documentary, fiction and animation projects in development from Extremadura, Spain, Portugal and Latin America, which will remain open until September 12.

It is worth noting that the 2nd Extremadura Film Residency will be held from November 25 to December 1, 2024 in Guadalupe, in what will be “a unique space for creation and encounter that highlights a cinema that is committed to diversity, unique perspectives and the periphery.”

The Extremadura Film Residency is directed by the filmmaker, winner of two Goya Awards, Juan Antonio Moreno, and the international script advisor Yolanda Barrasa, and is organised by the Extremadura production company Making DOC.

In this edition, five projects from Extremadura, five from Spain and five from Latin America and Portugal will be selected, according to the organization in a press release.

The meeting will be held at the Hospedería del Real Monasterio de Guadalupe, where the film directors of the selected projects, together with their producers, “will work with renowned professionals to develop their scripts and plan the audiences for these future films that will soon be released,” so that “together they will create the cinema of the future,” he says.

The most important new feature this year is that the Extremadura Film Market will be held for the first time alongside the Extremadura Film Residence on 28, 29 and 30 November. This will be a professional event and a co-production forum where the main agents of the film industry in Extremadura, Spain, Portugal and Latin America will participate.

The Extremadura Film Market will close with the public presentation of the 15 projects selected for the Extremadura Film Residence.

It should be noted that the Extremadura Film Residence has the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Provincial Council of Cáceres, the Provincial Council of Badajoz and the Extremadura Foundation for Culture.
