Behind every great man is a great woman. So the famous saying goes, and in the case of Roger Federer, the great woman in question is Miroslava Vavrinec, now “Mirka” Federer. After more than 20 years of love, the two lovebirds, married in 2009, had 4 children and continue to live happily ever after. Visiting the “Rock N’ Roll Tennis” podcast, Paul Annacone, Federer’s coach between 2010 and 2013, paid tribute to the incredible team that surrounded the Swiss. He had a great team around him. Tony [Godsick] was great. Mirka doesn’t get enough recognition. She is extraordinary because she really understood tennis and her husband, the icon he has become. It’s amazing that she managed to do all this. Without Severin Luthi and Pierre [Paganini], it would have been difficult. I was lucky. I was just a grain of salt in this big shaker of ingredients.

If she has always been discreet, Mirka Federer is in fact very important in the shadows, and was even crucial to the success of the former world number 1. When I got together with Mirka, I hadn’t won a single title on the circuit. She is a strong, intelligent woman, and her influence on both me and my career has been enormous. Mirka gave me confidence, and taught me to do my best. She also comforted me a lot during my defeats. Plus, she never lets me forget what real life is, and what real things are.
She managed to keep our friends and family together, and showed me how important it is to chart your own course without listening to the media or criticism. Better to listen to the advice of friends and family. Our life together is intense and exciting, and, fortunately, we often have something to laugh about. We also have 4 children, and we are doing everything we can for their future.
Usually rather reserved, Roger Federer became dithyrambic when talking about his dear and tender Mirka, without whom, we understand, he would not have been as successful in his life, both personally and professionally. .
