At around 18.30 on Sunday evening, the fire service reported to the scene that the fire has been extinguished.
It had been two hours since the first report that there was a fire in the city garden in Sandviken in Bergen.
Smoke detectors searched through the first floor of the building, which is a larger brick building of 4-5 floors.
The fire brigade will remain on site throughout the evening and night to extinguish the fire and prevent it from flaring up again.
Empty building
It quickly became clear that there were no people there.
– There are no people inside. The building seems uninvited and there are no people registered in the population register in the building, said Helge Blindheim, head of operations in the police, to NRK.
Initially, smoke was reported from the roof of the building. A little after 16.30, the fire service confirmed that there were open flames.
All the emergency services have been dispatched to the city.

There were long open flames, and the fire brigade expected it to be a long evening of extinguishing at the start of the extinguishing work.
– The crew has put down a fire on the first floor, but it is burning further up in the building, said duty commander Lars Petter Lorvik at 110 Vest at 16.55.

Not a big risk of spreading
The police informed NRK at 17.10 that the fire brigade had partial control, and that there was no great danger of the fire spreading to other buildings.
– It is of course possible that it could spread, but we are not very afraid of it as it is now, said Blindheim in the police.
The fire brigade must have broken windows to get into the building.

Nye Sandviksveien, county road 5342 is closed due to the fire, the Swedish Traffic Agency reports.
The police encouraged neighbors to close their windows.
