It is obviously with great surprise and shock that you will learn that Samsung is working on its next foldable smartphone models. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 will be the successors to the excellent Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.
If these last two models were minor updates over the third generation models, this fifth version should change the pace. We are also starting to hear the first rumors around the Z Flip 5, and these promise major updates.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5’s external display will be the largest of any foldable smartphone
It is the Ice Universe leaker who sends us all this information. To tell the truth, the rumor of a larger external screen on the Z Flip 5 is not new, since the leaker Ross Young had already issued it during the month of December.
This rumor tells us that the smartphone will have a larger screen than the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The latter measures over 3.26 inches diagonally, which is larger than originally rumored. The exact dimensions are, for the moment, unknown.
While the external screen of the Z Flip 4 is rather useless, offering only the display of a few notifications, that of the Z Flip 5 should allow more functionality. The Korean manufacturer should offer the integration of a number of native applications.
Like every year, Samsung will change the design of its hinge and the Z Flip 5 will not escape it. We hope, however, that this year the brand will focus on reducing screen crease, as well as completely closing the device in its folded position.
Details such as the exact dimensions, or even the characteristics are currently unknown. We can still expect the integration of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, as on the latest Galaxy S23.
