The High level of service buses (BHNS) will be delayed. Its final delivery, promised in 2026, is finally postponed although its extension was announced on Thursday October 24.

A first part between Part-Dieu and Kimmerling in Villeurbanne will be delivered in the first half of 2026. However, the rest of the line will emerge from the ground in 2027 to connect the Lyon business district to Vaulx-en-Velin.

Bruno Bernard castigates the mayor of Bron, opposed to the project

We will therefore have to be patient because the work on this line, crossing in particular the 3rd arrondissement and avenue Félix-Faure, then the road from Genas to Villeurbanne, is likely to last several more years.

The environmentalist president of the Metropolis of Lyon and Sytral, Bruno Bernard, places the blame on Jérémie Bréaud. The mayor Les Républicains de Bron would not support the project enough. “When issues of expropriation or relating to businesses arise, the municipality is in opposition,” complains the elected metropolitan official.

For good reason, Jérémie Bréaud, rather in favor of a tram, openly voted for a negative opinion during its municipal council meeting in September 2023 regarding the high level of service Bus. He is clearly opposed to the expropriations of local residents and traders.

For his part, Bruno Bernard questions the neutrality of certain elected officials of the municipality in this matter. He mentions the issues of “elected officials who are also traders”…

“President Bernard is looking for a scapegoat”

Jérémie Bréaud wanted to respond tonews Lyon to the criticisms of the boss of the Metropolis: “President Bernard is looking for a scapegoat instead of taking responsibility for his mistakes… unless he does not know his files. We are not foolsneither do our fellow citizens. Of which act. »

The elected representative of Les Républicains adds: “Despite this, the City of Bron remains mobilized and committed to transport infrastructures that respect the territory and the needs of its inhabitants. We will continue to defend a collaborative and coherent approach across the Metropolis, for a public transport project that meets the ambitions of Brondillants and Greater Lyonnais. »

What will the high level of service Bus look like?

A bus line whose performance is equivalent to that of a tram thanks to priority at lights and a reserved traffic lane.
A commercial speed equivalent to, or even greater than, a tram (15 to 20 km/h)
High frequencies and regularity guaranteed from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. (every 7 minutes).
Comfortable and equipped stations which replace traditional stops and offer numerous services (ticketing, real-time passenger information, signage, etc.).
New generation electric trolleybuses, comfortable, spacious, silent and non-polluting dedicated to this line.
A scalable reception capacity thanks to the arrangements allowing vehicles to be replaced by larger ones.

Currently, work is underway on avenue Felix-Faure and route de Genas. This project, once completed in 2027, will then have to give way to the extension of the Sept-Chemins line to the Parilly metro station. This extension must be delivered in 2029.

According to our information, residents of the Route de Genas opposed to the project have just filed an appeal before the Paris administrative court against the decree validating the declaration of public utility of the future BRT.
