Guardiola reveals the reason why Mahrez was not pushed against Bayern
Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, coach of the English club Manchester City, revealed the reason for the failure of his Algerian star, Riyad Mahrez, to participate in the confrontation as a starter against Bayern Munich, on Tuesday, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Before the start of the match, the Qatari “BN Sports” network quoted Spanish coach Pep Guardiola as saying: “I did not involve Riyad Mahrez in the confrontation against Bayern Munich for technical reasons, and Bernando Silva will replace him.”
He continued, “Bernando Silva is a very smart player, and he can help the team, because he has certain tasks, in order to tackle the best players, and Bayern Munich has a very good squad, even the reserve team has incredible quality.”
It is noteworthy that Manchester City club seeks to achieve victory in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final match at the “Al-Ittihad” stadium, before facing Bayern Munich in the second leg at the “Allianz Arena”, and coach Pep Guardiola appointed him to reach the semi-finals of the continental competition.
